Sohns Maschinenbau GmbH (SMB) was established in 2008 in Sinsheim-Reihnen by its managing director Stefan Sohns. The main idea was to design and manufactire innovative mail handling machines. So, half a year later, the first 40-meter mail sorting machine was designed, manufactured and delived in Helsinki (Finland). It did not take a long and the standard products of SMB were already including a large number of componenets for conveying systems and automation systems.
At the end of 2011, the company moved to Sinsheim (center), where many new ideas became true, so many new products were designed and developed, including the Universal Master (UM12), developed by Bedrunka+Hirth. UM12 is a semi-automatic testing machine with universal functions, such as: checking, installing or labeling of workpieces.
